Leicester Therapy EMDR - For all your Counselling Needs
Addiction thrives in silence and shame. Counselling offers the opposite: a confidential, non-judgemental space to understand what drives the addiction and build a genuine path to recovery. Leicester Therapy provides private 1-to-1 addiction counselling in Leicester city centre, including specialist support for clients of private residential addiction centres.
Alcohol
Drugs (prescription and non-prescription)
Gambling
Other compulsive behaviours affecting your life or relationships
Whether you're questioning your habits for the first time, committed to recovery, or supporting your sobriety after residential treatment, therapy can meet you where you are.
Addiction usually develops for a reason — often as a way of coping with pain, trauma, anxiety, or emotional wounds that were never given space to heal. That's why willpower alone so often isn't enough.
Working with Chris Parker, a BACP-registered psychotherapist and EMDR practitioner, addiction counselling addresses both:
The behaviour — triggers, cravings, high-risk situations, relapse prevention
The roots — the underlying experiences and emotions the addiction has been managing. Where trauma is a driver, EMDR therapy can be a powerful part of recovery.
Leicester Therapy provides 1-to-1 therapeutic support for clients of private residential addiction centres — both during treatment and as ongoing aftercare. Leaving a structured residential environment is a vulnerable time; continued individual therapy significantly supports lasting recovery.
Everything you share is confidential within standard professional and ethical boundaries. You will never be judged here — recovery starts with honesty, and honesty needs safety.
Do I have to be abstinent before starting counselling? No. You can start wherever you are. Together we'll work out goals that are realistic and right for you.
Is this like AA or a 12-step programme? No — this is private, individual psychotherapy. It can work alongside 12-step or other support groups if you attend them, but it's a different, personalised approach.
Can family members get support too? Addiction affects whole families. If you're struggling with a loved one's addiction, counselling can help you too — get in touch to discuss.
A free, confidential 20-minute consultation is the first step — no judgement, no commitment.
